Effectiveness of vitex agnus castus extract in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea

Background. Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is one of the most common types gynecological pathology and observed in 31–52% young women, 10% them pain so intense that leads to disability. In pathogenesis PD consider a representative eicosanoids— thromboxane A2 with pronounced vasoconstrictor effect. The article presents results clinical hormonal examination women developed on this basis method treatment. purpose was develop evaluate effectiveness treatment PD, taking into account multicomponent disease. Materials methods. There were 60 observation, randomly divided two groups: 30 (main group) 30healthy (control group). diagnosed patients’ complaints painful menstruation related symptoms, excluding organic diseases internal organs consultation physician endocrinologist. Treatment patients performed combined drug, which includes standardized extract Vitex agnus castus L., indole-3-carbinol, 3,3-diindolyl-methane, passionflower extract, California escholzia extract. Results. As result significantly reduced intensity pain, 60% completely disappeared all fear waiting for next menstruation, manifestations autonomic vascular (from 17% 3%), 0%), metabolic endocrine 13% 0%) disorders emotional mental sphere 23% 7%), no patient had combination symptoms. Conclusions. Given safety, high therapeutic efficacy, drug based can be recommended lasting at least 3 months.
